About Jack Kent Cooke CivicWeek: CivicWeek is an award-winning citizenship and leadership program that brings together some of the nation's most outstanding high school students for weeklong, service-learning immersion experiences. Each CivicWeek program examines a specific social issue as it impacts a dynamic community in the United States. In partnership with local nonprofit organizations and community leaders, students learn about the realities of each problem by participating in the work being done to change it. CivicWeek participants come away from their experience not only more knowledgeable about a particular social issue and about how to make a difference in communities, but perhaps more importantly, knowing that they have made themselves part of the solution, and have left a positive mark on the communities they have served.
Summer 2008 Programs:The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation and the Civic Education project will offer three CivicWeek programs exclusively for Jack Kent Cooke Young Scholars. All three programs will take place from June 29th - July 5th in New York, NY.
Jack Kent Cooke Young Scholars are called upon to be strong in character and leadership, and to contribute some of their considerable talents towards improving the lives of others. CivicWeek is a great way to get started, and to learn more about how you can help make the world a better place. Program tuition and related expenses will be covered by the Foundation. However, space in each program is limited, so the application process will be competitive. The application deadline is March 15, 2008, but interested scholars are encouraged to apply early. Click below to access our online application and get involved today!
Interested in other opportunities? The Civic Education Project offers spring and summer programs beyond CivicWeek for Jack Kent Cooke Young Scholars that also use service-learning to address similar issues.
