Civic Education Project: service learning field studies for oustanding middle and high school students
CTD's Civic Education Project
School Year Staff Positions

During the academic year, CEP brings together diverse groups of teenagers for intensive service-learning immersion experiences in host communities around the country.
  • CivicAction programs are held in the fall and spring over the course of two or four days in downtown Chicago to introduce middle and high school students to contemporary social issues facing urban communities.
  • CivicWeek programs are held in the spring in Chicago, New York and Washington DC. Each weeklong program allows outstanding high school students to examine a specific social issue through meaningful service work, meetings with government, business and community leaders; teambuilding, reflection and fun.
Staff positions include Lead Facilitators and Assistant Facilitators, as well as Residential Program Assistants for our two-day CivicAction programs. Staff are employed for two-day to one-week sessions in the fall or spring, plus a staff training session, and receive a cash stipend plus room, board and travel reimbursement.
