Learn introductory coding concepts using apps such as Kodable and Daisy the Dinosaur. Students also use tangible blocks and puzzles to construct 3D roads, paths, and patterns that demonstrate virtual coding concepts. No coding experience required.
NOTE: Eligible for the Gary Greenberg Technology for Children Scholarship.
Research Connection In 2016, a team of Northwestern University researchers assessed the effectiveness of Leapfrog coding courses. Leapfrog student participants were taught concepts of sequencing, conditions, and loops. Preliminary results suggest participants were able to make significant progress over the course of a one-week class. Students in the class who were able to successfully complete sequencing tasks in a coding app grew from 32% to 92%. This study will be presented at the Biennial Meeting of the Society for Research in Child Development in April 2017.
