What People are Saying about Project EXCITE...
Parents respond
[My daughter would] tell me, ‘You have to get me there!'
Project EXCITE has really allowed my son to be open. He talks much more, and he knows his stuff.
I've always told my daughter that I felt it was a privilege for her to be involved in Project Excite. I know early on it was a push for her. Like, on Saturdays, she would have rather been out doing other things, but, you know, I think it was a blessing that she was picked, and I think it is a good thing for minority kids.
Students respond
Wow. I made a lot of new friends. Shanghai, China, South Korea…there were just so many people in Project EXCITE and the Summer Program, and it was so diverse. I just loved hanging out and meeting new people. What is your response? We welcome your comments!
I think it built my self-esteem about taking science classes and doing well.
Advice from a veteran to new Project EXCITE participants: "I'd say strive for your best, and don’t settle for anything less than the best because you don’t feel capable of doing it. I think you should go all the way, see what you can achieve. I would also say ask questions because that will really help you stay on task. Keep asking questions.'
Thiss as been such a wonderful program for my child.
