The Gifted LearningLinks Accelerated Summer Option allows students the opportunity to complete a course in nine weeks, rather than nine months. Students who choose this option can start a Gifted LearningLinks course in the summer and finish it before school starts in the fall.

What is the time commitment for an Accelerated Summer Option course?
Students in the Gifted LearningLinks Accelerated Summer Option program are expected to devote four to six hours per day to coursework. Serious commitment is necessary in order to complete a high school honors-level class in only nine weeks.

What kind of evaluation do you receive in a Gifted LearningLinks Accelerated Summer Option course?
Evaluation methods and grading criteria are detailed in the syllabus for each course, and each student will receive a grade and written evaluation at the conclusion of the first and second semesters (i.e., at the conclusion of the fifth and ninth week of the course). Upon completion of the course, students receive an official Center for Talent Development (CTD) transcript with their course grade(s). If requested, CTD can send an evaluation and transcript to a designated high school.

What happens if my child signs up for an Accelerated Summer Option course but is unable to finish it in the allotted nine weeks?
Students who do not finish their coursework in the nine-week timeframe have through March 15th of the following year (nine months from their June 15th start date) to complete their coursework.

Below are the current accelerated summer course offerings for the Summer of 2009.

Courses will run for 9 weeks from June 15 to August 22.  The first week of the session includes an orientation to online learning.
