
Eligibility
Gifted LearningLinks is designed for academically talented students in kindergarten through grade 12. Applicants can demonstrate eligibility through qualifying test scores or through a compelling Admission Portfolio.
Qualifying Test Scores
Enrichment courses are for students in grades 3 through 8 and require scores in the 95th percentile and above on a nationally normed test in math, reading or both, depending on the course. Participation in a Talent Search can also qualify a student. Please see the course descriptions or the Course Reference Chart for details.
Honors, Honors Elective and AP® courses are for students in grades 6 through 12 and require students to take the EXPLORE test while in grade 6 or the SAT or ACT while in grades 6 through 9. Score requirements vary by course, so please see the course descriptions or the Course Reference Chart for details. If a student does not have qualifying test scores, or is above grade 9, please apply using an Admission Portfolio.
Education Program for Gifted Youth (EPGY) courses are for students in kindergarten through grade 7 and require scores in the 95th percentile or above on a nationally normed test in math or reading, depending on the course. For EPGY’s university level math courses, students must have one of the following scores: SAT Math ≥ 540 or ACT Math ≥ 20.
Admission Portfolio
Applicants who lack qualifying test scores, but feel they are likely to succeed in Gifted LearningLinks courses, may submit an Admission Portfolio.
An Admission Portfolio includes the standard application materials detailed in the Apply Now pages as well as the following materials:

Admission Portfolio

- Current report card and
- Teacher Recommendation Form(s).

Homeschooler Admission Portfolio
A Homeschooler Admission Portfolio includes the standard application materials detailed in the Apply Now pages as well as the following materials:
- Two Adult Recommendation Forms from adults unrelated to the applicant and
- Parent’s statement describing the student’s learning in the appropriate academic area over the past year, including references to curriculum, books, projects and activities.
Additionally, the Homeschooler Admission Portfolio may include any or all of the following, depending on availability:
- Copies of the student’s best work in the appropriate academic area;
- Copies of teacher evaluations from any classes taken from umbrella schools, co-ops, etc.;
- Copies of any available standardized test reports taken in the last 24 months;
- Copy of transcript or grade report for current academic year (Please indicate if this was produced by a parent.); and
- Any other information that might provide insight into the student’s academic strengths and help us place him/her in the appropriate course.
