Evaluations, Grades & Credit

Gifted LearningLinks (GLL) students receive evaluations detailing their performance in a course and recommendations for future study.

Enrichment Course Evaluation
Students taking enrichment courses receive a narrative evaluation upon completion of the course, detailing the work accomplished and recommendations for further study.

Honors, Honors Elective and AP Course Evaluation and Academic Credit
Students taking honors, honors elective and AP® courses receive a grade and written evaluation at the conclusion of the first and second semester. Upon completion of the course, students receive an official Center for Talent Development (CTD) transcript with their course grade(s). If requested, CTD can send an evaluation and transcript to a designated high school.

Given Center for Talent Development’s accreditation by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools as a supplementary school, CTD can grant high school credit for successful completion (grade of C or better) for GLL’s honors and AP® courses. Each Honors Elective course (18 weeks) carries the equivalent of one high school semester credit. Each Honors/AP course (9 months) carries the equivalent of two high school semester credits.  Whether a school accepts the credit depends on that school’s institutional policy about the recognition of credit from outside schools.

GLL is also approved by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Log in to the NCAA site with CTD's School Code, 851091, or type "Illinois, Evanston, Center for Talent Development" in the search engine. Scroll down to see the list of honors and AP courses approved by the NCAA. The NCAA accreditation allows student athletes to take approved GLL courses for high school credit.

Students who wish to receive credit for a course or have it considered as part of their school’s schedule should discuss this option with their academic counselor or school administrator before applying to Gifted LearningLinks.

A pass/no credit option is available for students taking honors electives, honors, or AP® classes. To select this option, parental or school administrative permission is required in writing no later than six weeks into the course. Students electing pass/no credit must adhere to all GLL policies and receive a grade of C- or better in order to pass with course credit.
