Applying to Gifted LearningLinks Enrichment Level

Gifted LearningLinks Honors/AP Level Admission Criteria

Students may apply to the Gifted LearningLinks Program in one of three ways:

  • Fast Track for Returning Students
  • Score Criteria
  • Admission Portfolio

Students should apply for courses that match their areas of academic strength, as shown by performance on nationally normed standardized tests.

All applications must be accompanied by a tuition fee of $725 and a non-refundable application fee of $50, for a total of $775.

OPTION 1: FAST TRACK FOR RETURNING STUDENTS

The Fast Track method is for returning students who have successfully completed a Gifted LearningLinks course and who have test scores on file at the CTD that meet the criteria for the 2007-08 course choice(s). Fast Track students must submit the following with their completed application and tuition fee:

  • Courses with prerequisites: report card or transcript showing that the prerequisite criteria has been met (see Eligibility)
  • AP-level only: Writing sample required for the AP English Literature; AP English Language; AP Psychology; and AP US, European, and World History courses (this can be a graded school assignment) that highlights the student's ability to synthesize, analyze, and evaluate information and ideas

OPTION 2: SCORE CRITERIA

Students using this method must have test scores that meet the criteria for the 2007-08 course choice(s) and must submit the following with their completed application and tuition fee:

  • A copy of the official test score report
  • Courses with prerequisites: report card or transcript showing that the prerequisite criteria has been met
  • AP-level only: Writing sample required for the AP English Literature; AP English Language; AP Psychology; and AP US, European, and World History courses (this can be a graded school assignment) that highlights the student's ability to synthesize, analyze, and evaluate information and ideas

OPTION 3: ADMISSION PORTFOLIO

Students using an admission portfolio to apply for the Gifted LearningLinks Program are new or returning students who do not have test scores that meet the criteria for their 2007-08 course choice(s). In addition to their completed application and tuition fee, they must submit the following:

  • If available, the most recent nationally normed test score report demonstrating academic achievement in the area that corresponds to the course(s) for which the student is applying (e.g., Reading scores to take language arts/social science courses or Math scores to take mathematics/science courses)
  • Current report card
  • Two recommendations from teachers familiar with the student's work in the area applied for
  • Courses with prerequisites: report card or transcript showing that the prerequisite criteria has been met
  • AP-level only: if available, most recent PLAN, PSAT, SAT or ACT scores
  • AP-level only: Writing sample required for the AP English Literature; AP English Language; AP Psychology; and AP US, European, and World History courses (this can be a graded school assignment) that highlights the student's ability to synthesize, analyze, and evaluate information and ideas

Gifted LearningLinks Enrichment Level Admission Criteria

Students may apply to the Gifted LearningLinks Enrichment Level in one of three ways:

  • Fast Track for Returning Students
  • Score Criteria
  • Admission Portfolio

Students should apply for courses that match their areas of academic strength, as shown by performance on nationally normed standardized tests.

All applications must be accompanied by a tuition fee of $355 and a non-refundable application fee of $50, for a total of $405.

OPTION 1: FAST TRACK FOR RETURNING STUDENTS


The Fast Track method is for returning students who meet the following criteria:

  • Successful completion of a Gifted LearningLinks Enrichment Level, or SEP course
  • Test scores on file at CTD that show academic achievement at the 95th percentile or above on a math or verbal composite or subtest of a nationally normed standardized test.
  • Completed application form.

OPTION 2: SCORE CRITERIA

Students using this method must have test scores that meet the criteria for their course choice and submit:

  • A copy of the official test report showing academic achievement at the 95th percentile or above on a math or verbal composite or subtest of a nationally normed standardized test.
  • Completed application form.

OPTION 3: ADMISSION PORTFOLIO

Students using an admission portfolio to apply for the Gifted LearningLinks Enrichment Level arenew or returning students who do not have test scores that show academic achievement at the 95th percentile or above on a math or verbal composite or subtest of a nationally normed standardized test.

  • One teacher recommendation from a teacher familiar with the student's work in the area for which s/he has applied.
  • Copy of current report card indicating high achievement in relevant subject area.
  • Completed application form.

EPGY Admission Criteria

Students may apply to EPGY in one of two ways:

  • Fast Track for Returning Students
  • Score Criteria

All applications must be accompanied by a tuition fee (for tuition fees click here).

The Fast Track method is for returning students who have successfully completed an EPGY course and who have test scores on file at the CTD that meet the criteria for the 2007-08 course choice(s). Fast Track students must submit the following:

  • Completed application form and tuition fee
  • Courses with prerequisites: report card or transcript showing that the prerequisite criteria has been met

OPTION 2: SCORE CRITERIA

Students using this method must have test scores that meet the criteria for the 2007-08 course choice(s) and must submit the following:

  • Completed application form and tuition fee
  • A copy of the official test score report
  • Courses with prerequisites: report card or transcript showing that the prerequisite criteria has been met
