"I absolutely loved my GLL class (Honors Logic)! I was able to learn so much more about the subject and applying it to real life. Based on my experience with the logic course, I would definitely take another class through the GLL program." |
| "Maybe I should tell someone besides just friends. Cody's experience with Dr. Heller has by far been his best experience ever in writing and receiving critiques on his work. I am so glad that Cody has had the opportunity to experience this class before going to college. He has grown in his writing and his love for verbal expression especially in poetry." |
"Diana wanted me to email you and let you know that she got a 5 on her AP Psychology exam. She is thrilled! She enjoyed the AP Psychology course and plans on taking another CTD AP course this school year." |
| "I loved learning about the subject I chose at my own rate. Instead of having to wait for others, as often happens in a classroom setting, I could pace myself and just enjoy the lessons." |
| "I wanted to let you know how grateful our family is for the summer accelerated option in the GLL program. The Honors Algebra I class was a challenge, and turned out to be a huge growth experience for Josh. He really had to work diligently in order to learn so much material thoroughly in 12 weeks, and found himself needing to STUDY for the first time in his academic career. Because of this challenge, he learned important independent study skills that will certainly serve him well throughout his life. (I’m so glad he learned the importance of self-motivation now, rather than his first semester in college!!) Also, taking the class over the summer allowed him to bridge the gap between his school’s challenge and advanced classes so that he could move up to a more challenging pace this past fall. With our summer schedule, he wouldn’t have been able to take the class if on-site attendance had been required, and wouldn’t have been properly placed this year as a result. So thank you for making this leap possible!" |
| "The best part was having access to a unique, challenging course in English vocabulary and to an excellent teacher." |
"This was a wonderful course. What I, as a parent, was most pleased with was the way the instructor provided detailed feedback and commentary on the assignments. These comments were always thought-provoking, and always encouraging and "building" for subsequent activities. I'll be honest with you, I didn't expect that high level of feedback. The instructor actually provided much more applicable and educational feedback than most of the English teachers she's had within the classroom. He provided "depth," and not superficial commentary. I felt that he had a good handle on what drives her as a student...more so than some of the instructors she sees face-to-face on a daily basis." |
| "Actually having challenging coursework was a wonderful change in the mundane world of regular schooling." |
"Thank you for two wonderful courses in which I have greatly developed my writing skills and, more importantly, my voice. I now feel as if I am so in tune with my voice that I can write well on little sleep (though I wouldn't try it). I also feel as if I have a better understanding of symbols, metaphor and various other tools employed in literature to tell a story without actually telling a story. I certainly would not have learned such a skill so quickly without guidance from your course, which was incredibly well-designed. I also learned how to experiment, which is an invaluable key for any aspiring writer. Furthermore, you helped to develop my skills as a nonfiction writer and my skills for refining my work when I look at it a second time. I now know the true meaning of the phrase "Writing is rewriting." |
