What is EPGY?

Why should a gifted student enroll in EPGY?
If a student is interested in self-paced math and science course options, the should consider Gifted LearningLinks EPGY courses.


What are the admissions criteria for EPGY?

How are EPGY applications reviewed?

Students applying for EPGY elementary math courses must submit a nationally normed test showing achievement at the 95th percentile or higher. Students enrolling in the secondary or advanced mathematics levels must meet the require minimum SAT or ACT score.

Students without test scores may submit an alternate admissions portfolio showing strong academic achievement in math. The CTD staff carefully reviews each application and may ask students to supply additional academic information supporting their advanced achievement.

Can you receive credit for EPGY courses?
Yes, several of the more advanced courses offer Standford credit units. See EPGY Courses to learn which provide credit.


What is the cost of an EPGY course?

Who teaches EPGY courses?

EPGY instructors are hired by Stanford University and are available by phone and email to help students. EPGY instructors have a thorough knowledge of the subject as well as expertise in using the technology to provide instruction to the students. Contact EPGY for more information.

What kind of evaluation do you receive in an EPGY course?

Students receive email evaluations throughout the duration of the course. Students enrolled in secondary math classes also receive a final letter grade and transcript noting the high school credit earned.

What is the time commitment for an EPGY course?

The time commitment for EPGY courses varies by the level of the course and the student’s ability.

Will I finish my EPGY course in a quarter?

Some of the courses can be completed in three months, and some will take longer. Some students will progress more quickly than others, depending on ability and time allotted to EPGY study.


Who succeeds in EPGY courses?
Successful students must be self-starters, with the initiative to begin a course and the persistence to complete it. They must be motivated to work on assignments alone, without prodding. And, they must have the time in their schedules to work on course assignments on a regular basis.

What is the relationship between EPGY and CTD’s Gifted LearningLinks Program?

EPGY and Gifted LearningLinks are two distance-learning options offered to gifted students by CTD. CTD runs Gifted LearningLinks in-house and coordinates with Stanford to offer more math and science options through EPGY.
