About Us
The Next Generation Venture Fund was developed in 2003 to identify academically talented students from underrepresented backgrounds and support their educational development and increase their acceptance rate into selective universities through participation in rigorous summer programs, distance education courses, mentoring, and academic support with an assigned educational advisor.
Students
NGVF students live all over the country, but are clustered in specific geographic regions and served through the university talent search program that serves their particular region (in the Midwest, the talent search center is CTD). Nationally, the Next Generation Venture Fund has worked with over 300 students and their families. CTD began its partnership with NGVF in 2007 with 10 students. Next year the program at CTD will grow to serve more than 20 students! The Next Generation Venture Fund congratulates the first cohort of students who started their first semester at college in the fall of 2008.
University Partners
From its inception, NGVF has sparked a collaborative spirit. The NGVF is hosted by four talent search organizations: Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth (CTY), Duke University Talent Identification Program (Duke TIP), Northwestern University Center for Talent Development (CTD) and the Denver Center for Bright Kids (CBK). Scholars are selected to participate in a particular organization’s NGVF program based on the state in which they reside (See map below).
