How Do You Help Your Top Students?

As an educator, you’re looking for the best opportunities for your gifted and talented students. Having top students in your program enhances the reputation of your school. But do you know how your students compare to their peers not just in your school, but across the Midwest? What do you need to do to help your students reach their full potential?

Northwestern University’s Midwest Academic Talent Search (NUMATS) helps provide an accurate assessment of your top students by providing access to above grade-level tests - EXPLORE, ACT or SAT. Educators or parents may identify students who might benefit from this program. After students have taken the above grade-level tests through NUMATS, your school will receive copies of all materials sent to students, including their scores, information about educational opportunities, and a number of other resources. NUMATS helps you channel your most capable students into classes and enrichment opportunities that are most appropriate for them.

Schools participating in NUMATS receive:
Test Preparation Materials
  • Coordinator’s handbook, with information about identifying students who would benefit from NUMATS, test dates, fees, financial aid, testing with special accommodations, non-Saturday testing and more
  • NUMATS registration packets
  • E-mail updates with names of students who have registered
