Step 3. Take the Test and Receive Follow-up Materials

After NUMATS forwards your information to the testing agency, you will receive your materials at least two to three weeks before your scheduled test.
If you are registered for EXPLORE, you will receive:
  • an admission ticket
  • test information and a practice booklet
  • a Student/Parent Guide
If you are registered for ACT/SAT, you will receive:
  • a Student Guide to taking the test
  • a student identification form to be completed and taken to the test
  • a copy of Preparing for the ACT or SAT Preparation Booklet
ACT and SAT test-takers will receive an admission ticket later, showing their assigned test location.

Students should receive an admissions ticket to the appropriate test that contains a registration number and identifies the test center to which you have been assigned. If you do not receive a ticket or you need to re-schedule the ACT or SAT, call the appropriate testing agency:
  • ACT: 319/337-1270
  • SAT: 866/756-7346
  • EXPLORE: 319/337-1369

On the day you are scheduled to take the test, take the following items with you:
  • Admission ticket
  • Completed ACT student ID form or SAT student ID form (there are no ID forms for the EXPLORE test)
  • 2 pencils with good erasers
  • An approved calculator

If you have other questions about the testing, see our FAQs.
