We are the Saturday Enrichment Program
Walk into an SEP classroom, and you might see kids sprawled all over the floor constructing robots and programming them on laptops. In another room, students discuss Shakespeare’s skillful use of irony and ponder how to incorporate this literary device into their own one-act plays.
While the scenes in SEP classrooms vary widely, the action is always the same. Skilled and enthusiastic instructors teach. Talented and motivated students learn. And everyone has a great time in the process!
Grounded

Center for Talent Development’s Saturday Enrichment Program (SEP) supplements weekday schooling by providing rigorous and engaging courses in mathematics, science, language arts and social science. SEP, like all Center for Talent Development (CTD) programs, is built on a foundation of decades of nationally recognized research as to how best to help gifted students realize their potential. This research teaches us that enrichment experiences should promote interdisciplinary study, focus learning around key concepts and foster the development of independent learning strategies. By remaining grounded in high-quality research, SEP continually impresses students and parents alike with its course selection and content. Further, it provides a forum for students of like minds to meet and interact not only on an academic level, but socially as well. |
Growing

For the last 25 years, the CTD Saturday Enrichment Program has experienced continuous, controlled growth. SEP enrollment has increased steadily each year at all locations, including existing sites and sites added through the years. Simultaneously, we have worked to raise our instructional standards and enhance teacher training. Our history is characterized not only by constant growth, but by the strategic thinking and careful evaluation necessary for continuous improvement. Read more... |

Center for Talent Development is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools as a "Special Function School." Accreditation enables CTD to grant credit for high school level courses successfully completed by students in its programs. Not only that, accreditation signifies that an objective party has deemed SEP to be student-oriented, continuously improving and dedicated to delivering on our promises. |

While our research-backed instruction, growth and accreditation are all good things, the true accomplishments of the Saturday Enrichment Program are those of our students. When an SEP kindergartner builds a Chinese abacus or discusses literature in English and Spanish, we know we’ve done something right. When a grade 9 participant receives two semesters of credit in honors science, another step toward her dream of being a doctor, we are thrilled. SEP students make great strides and learn an incredible amount in a very short time; this is the accomplishment of which we are most proud. |
