Joseph, Grade 4
Joseph
Most recent SEP course: Chances Are
Favorite subject: Science, but my last SEP course, in math and statistics, was great!
In my free time I love to: Read books, play guitar or keyboard, draw, create songs or books, watch old TV shows, play football or hit baseballs and go to memorabilia or antiques stores

Joseph first attended the Saturday Enrichment Program when he started kindergarten, and he has enrolled in every session since. He enjoys taking classes that aren’t offered at his school, such as Puppetry, Astronomy, Inventions and Biome Bonanza. While Joseph says the instructors are “always nice” and classes are “fun and interesting,” the thing he likes best about SEP is “that there are other kids just like me there!”

Joseph feels his SEP friends think like he does and understand each other better than their weekday peers. This social interaction and the importance of learning in community with one another are two of many reasons for SEP’s success. Intriguingly, as a result of participating in SEP and meeting other kids “just like him,” Joseph has also discovered his uniqueness. His SEP experiences have enabled him, he says, to “think of myself as someone special.”
