Students
Summer Program students come from urban and rural areas across the country and around the world. In 2007, participants included 3,207 students from 35 states and 17 countries. They are tall and short, wealthy and poor, from homeschools, public schools and boarding schools. Whether an only child or the eldest of six in a three-generation household, they all find extended family at Center for Talent Development (CTD). Some love the arts and others love science, but they all love to learn.
Summer Program students’ diversity enriches classrooms and enables life-changing friendships to be formed each year. Their ambition and academic abilities allow them to learn not only from their instructors, but from each other as well. Their diversity and shared talents and interests together create a vibrant learning community and the foundation for a phenomenal summer experience.
Summer Program students return to their schools in the fall having been engaged, inspired and challenged. They are also better prepared for continued high achievement. Summer Program students go on to become school leaders, valedictorians and award winners. They earn admission into top-ranked schools and win prestigious college scholarships. And each year, we hear from them. They call and e-mail to say, “Thanks. CTD made the difference.”

Lauren
Lauren's best memory from her Leapfrog experience was performing in a play for family and friends at the end of the course. Not surprisingly, perhaps, that endeavor proved educational, as well. "I learned how to work with others,” Lauren says, and notes that the thing she liked best about her classmates was “that they came from all over the world, such as South Korea, China, California and Wisconsin."

Kevin
While he was pleased with the academic aspects of the program, Kevin also found time for fun. His favorite activity was hanging out with classmates and resident assistants in the various restaurants near campus. When asked about his classmates, Kevin responded, “The class was diverse but jelled well.” In addition to learning biology, he says, they learned how to be better friends.
