Courses
Small classes. Master teachers. Innovative curricula. These are the hallmarks of the Leapfrog program and some of the reasons that so many students return year after year. Enrollment in PreK/K through K/1 courses is limited to 16 students per class; Grades 1/2 and 2/3 courses accommodate 18 students per class. Each course is taught by a master teacher and a teaching assistant, and these two individuals work together to get to know the students, encourage their talents and engage them in hands-on activities and challenging lessons.
Syllabi
Syllabi from past Leapfrog courses, along with samples of student work, provide a good sense of Leapfrog courses’ depth and breadth, as well as the varied projects and activities which engage students each day. Please click here for sample syllabi from Summer 2011.
Because courses fill quickly, families are encouraged to list several course selections. Listing several choices does not hurt a student’s chance of being assigned to the first course choice, and neither does listing only one choice increase a student’s chance of placement in that course. Applicants who apply early have a better chance of receiving their first course choice than students who apply in April and May.
The admission committee reserves the right to interpret the information contained in the application packet in order to select students most likely to contribute to and benefit from a Center for Talent Development Summer Program experience. Parents will be notified of their child's placement before the course begins.

Course Selection & Placement
We invite you to use our course search tool to find the right Leapfrog courses for your child.
During each week of Leapfrog, a different topic within the same subject area is offered at each level.
Leapfrog courses are intended to build upon a student's strengths, and do not remediate areas of weakness. Each course is an intensive experience; by studying a topic of interest, students stay focused, achieve success and enjoy themselves in the process.
Families should select courses based on the following three criteria:
- grade* student is completing by summer 2012;
- area of academic strength (e.g., math, science, technology or English and writing), based on test scores or other academic measures and
- area of interest; by reading through course descriptions, you might think, for instance, that your animal lover would be thrilled by the Zoo Vets course or that your budding entrepreneur would love the math course Budgeting a Business.
