Safety & Conduct

The goal of Center for Talent Development’s Summer Program is to foster intellectual and social growth in a safe and engaging environment. We take every reasonable step to ensure the safety and well-being of Leapfrog students, including the following:
Upon their child’s acceptance to Leapfrog, parents also receive the Leapfrog acceptance packet, with additional safety and conduct information.

Exceptional Educators and Staff
Leapfrog educators and staff are selected through a highly competitive process that weighs such factors as academic background, experience, enthusiasm and ability to respond to the needs of our students. Our staff is an exceptional group of individuals brought together by a commitment to educating and inspiring gifted young people.

Smooth Drop-off/Pick-up Transitions
Summer Program staff assure that students and families have a friendly and safe arrival and departure each day. The drop-off/pick-up location and times, as well as other details, are provided in the Leapfrog acceptance packet.

Proper Supervision
Leapfrog students receive consistent, age-appropriate supervision while they are in the Summer Program. Our trained faculty and staff teams provide clear conduct guidelines and are trained in appropriate supervision.

Inside the classroom, Leapfrog participants thrive in an organized, comfortable environment and benefit from a low student-to-staff ratio. Leapfrog courses are limited to 18 students, and each class has both a teacher and a teaching assistant. (PreK and kindergarten courses are limited to 16 students for an 8:1 student-to-staff ratio. ) Administrative staff provides added supervision during activities taking place outside the classroom.

High Standards for Student Conduct
In order to maintain a safe and inviting learning environment, all Summer Program participants must adhere to Center for Talent Development's (CTD) Honor Code. The Honor Code establishes standards and expectations for student behavior and reflects CTD’s commitment to fostering character development, integrity and respect for diversity.

The Leapfrog acceptance packet includes detailed information about the CTD Honor Code and additional Summer Program rules and policies. These rules help to ensure the safety of our students and staff, and all students who attend must be committed to respecting them.

Attention to Student Health
CTD staff keeps health information about each participant on hand at all times. In the case of any health issues during the program, Leapfrog administrative staff will call the student's parent. If a parent is unreachable, staff will call the designated emergency contact. Families are responsible for all health costs incurred by their children during the program.
