Financial Aid

Center for Talent Development (CTD) aims to ensure that the Summer Program is accessible to all students who wish to attend, regardless of financial circumstances.

All applicants seeking financial aid should consider the following four strategies:

Apply for Scholarships
Two scholarships, the Gary Greenberg Technology for Children Scholarship and the Sandra Dennhardt Scholars Program, provide financial assistance to students enrolling in CTD Summer Program technology courses.

Gary Greenberg Technology for Children Scholarship
Overview: Funds from the Gary Greenberg Technology for Children Scholarship Fund are used to provide full or partial tuition for a student or students with financial need who enroll in a technology class in the Center for Talent Development (CTD) Summer Program. Depending upon the funds available, one or more students may receive full or partial scholarships.

Eligibility: Students who meet the academic entrance criteria for the CTD Summer Program, receive acceptance to a CTD Summer Program technology course and demonstrate financial need are qualified to apply.

Application Procedure: Students must write a brief letter indicating that they would like to apply for the scholarship and submit it along with their financial aid application form to the CTD Summer Program. Scholarship applicants are also required to submit an essay detailing how the Gary Greenberg Technology for Children scholarship will help them to fulfill their goals, advance their knowledge or education or enable them to complete a special project.

Application Deadline: Applications are due to CTD by May 22, 2009.

Apply for Financial Aid from CTD
CTD offers a limited amount of need-based financial aid, and it is awarded on a rolling basis beginning in January 2009. For students enrolling in technology courses, two scholarship opportunities exist.
  • Aid awards are based on family income and extenuating circumstances (e.g., loss of job, unforeseen medical expenses, etc.). Most families awarded aid have a total household income of less than $50,000.
  • Financial aid is awarded for no more than one session (Apogee, Spectrum, Equinox) per child.
  • To be considered for financial aid, families must complete the Financial Aid Application. All requested materials (tax information, statement of need, etc.) must be included in the financial aid submission in order for a Financial Aid Application to be considered.
  • The amount of financial aid granted and the balance due are reflected on an invoice included in the acceptance packet. Any outstanding balance must be paid by June 1, 2009, unless arrangements have been made with CTD for a payment plan.
  • A five-month payment plan is available. For more information, please review and submit the Payment Plan Application.

Consider the Payment Plan
A five-month payment plan is available to students in the Spectrum program. To utilize the payment plan, complete the Payment Plan Application and include it with the Application for Admission.

The amount covered by the plan is equal to the tuition and fees less the application fee, tuition deposit and any financial aid received.

Families choosing the payment plan option who do not apply for financial aid, or apply for but do not receive financial aid, are assessed a service charge of $50 for the plan. Families of students receiving financial aid will not be assessed a service charge for using the payment plan.

The first payment is due when the applicant is notified of acceptance to the program. Subsequent payments are due on the last day of each month following the applicant’s acceptance. Payments must be made with a check or money order. Credit/debit cards are not accepted for payment plan installments. If the applicant is accepted into the program, an agreement and monthly coupons will be prepared and sent with the acceptance packet.
