New Applicant with Qualifying Test Scores
You are a new applicant if you are completing grades 7 or 8 (students completing grade 9 may apply) and you meet any one of the following criteria:
  • You have never attended Spectrum and you have qualifying test scores.
  • You have previously attended Spectrum, but you are now applying for a course in a different subject area than the course you successfully completed and you have qualifying test scores.
  • You attended Apogee, Saturday Enrichment Program or Gifted LearningLinks, but are now applying to Spectrum and have the required talent search (above grade-level) test scores on the ACT or SAT.

Prequalified Applicant
You are a prequalified applicant if you are completing grades 7 or 8 (students completing grade 9 may apply) and you meet both of the following criteria:
  • You have successfully completed a Center for Talent Development (CTD) Spectrum course.
  • You are applying for a Spectrum course in the same subject area of the course you previously completed.
Please note: Students moving from Apogee, the Saturday Enrichment Program or Gifted LearningLinks enrichment courses to Spectrum may not apply as prequalified students. Spectrum is an accelerated program requiring specific test scores on above grade-level tests (ACT or SAT through Northwestern University's Midwest Academic Talent Search or similar service) or submission of an Admission Portfolio.

Admission Portfolio Applicant
You are an Admission Portfolio applicant if you are completing grades 7 or 8 (students completing grade 9 may apply) and you do not have qualifying test scores because you have either 1) never taken an above grade-level achievement test such as the ACT or SAT in grades 6 through 9 or 2) you have taken an above-grade-level test but not achieved a qualifying test score.
