Meet a Few Summer Program Students
Leapfrog
Myra
Myra applied for Center for Talent Development’s Summer Program, and its Leapfrog courses specifically, after having a positive experience with the Saturday Enrichment Program (SEP). “I really liked SEP classes, and I knew I would love having them every day,” says Myra. And she did!

Lauren
Lauren's best memory from her Leapfrog experience was performing in a play for family and friends at the end of the course. Not surprisingly, perhaps, that endeavor proved educational, as well. "I learned how to work with others,” Lauren says, and notes that the thing she liked best about her classmates was “that they came from all over the world, such as South Korea, China, California and Wisconsin."

Kori
When asked what she likes best about Apogee and Center for Talent Development’s Summer Program, Kori echoes the sentiments we hear from virtually all participants: she likes being with kids who are a lot like her – kids “who are thinking on a higher level and wanting to pursue their academic interests, too."

Sydney
“I wanted to attend Spectrum because it offers many classes and opportunities that are very hard to find elsewhere,” says Sydney. “In addition to that, it’s really fun to meet and get to know other students from all around the world who have the same interests as you.” Sydney believes those shared interests help students build community. “It was interesting to see how fast we bonded and got to know each other,” she says.

Kevin
While he was pleased with the academic aspects of the program, Kevin also found time for fun. His favorite activity was hanging out with classmates and resident assistants in the various restaurants near campus. When asked about his classmates, Kevin responded, “The class was diverse but jelled well.” In addition to learning biology, he says, they learned how to be better friends.

Zachary
Zachary attended Center for Talent Development’s Summer Program on a friend’s recommendation, and it provided the exact level of challenge he was seeking. “My class was very fast-paced, and we covered a lot of information in only three weeks,” he says.

Expand your knowledge and abilities. The Summer Program features rigorous courses taught by master teachers with content expertise, enthusiasm and familiarity with the needs of gifted students. Study a subject you love, and work at a pace suited to your abilities. |

Increase your independence. In all programs but Leapfrog, students can choose to live in campus residence halls and get a taste of campus life, enjoying the resources and facilities of a premiere institution. Learn to manage your time and your studies, and gain self-confidence along the way. |

Form friendships with peers in age and intellect. Live and learn with classmates who share your interests and passion for learning. Revel in these common characteristics while simultaneously learning about – and respecting – one another’s differences. Summer Program students come from around the country and the world, and this diversity enriches the campus and classroom environments. |

Earn academic credit. Because of Center for Talent Development’s accreditation, CTD can offer one or two semesters of high school credit for most courses, including all Spectrum and Equinox courses. |

Have fun! Hands-on classroom projects; afternoon sports and recreation activities; moments for creativity, thought and solitude; weekend trips to cultural institutions. Learning is embedded in every aspect of the Summer Program, and that is why the Summer Program is where smart kids come to have fun! |
