Activity/Lab - The students worked to complete their 9 foot tall hot air balloons. Laying out the gores to prepare for gluing. Adding the next gore. Gluing one seam. Gluing the starting gore to the last gore. Checking that all seams are complete. Putting a box in the balloon so that the top of the balloon can be attached. Ready for a leak test ... ... and finding all leaks. Tesing for leaks a second .... ... and third time. Making final repairs of the balloon. Making final repairs of the balloon.  Building Project - During the afternoon session, the students built flying devices of their own design ... making improvements to the desings used throughout the first week. A larger parachute. A smaller hot air balloon. A kite and hang glider. A new paper-tube plane.
