7:00pm - 8:00pm CDT
Online

How can parents help their curious, bright children acquire the skills necessary to develop fully their talent, including setting goals, managing their motivation, embracing challenge, and controlling anxiety? How can they help their advanced students to cultivate social and psychological skills that will support high achievement?  In this session, Rhoda Rosen will present key psychological principles of learning and motivation and how they apply specifically to advanced learners, including resources for fostering motivation and other key psychosocial skills.

Rhoda Rosen is an Associate Director at Northwestern’s Center for Talent Development, which is part of the School of Education and Social Policy. Rosen oversees CTD’s enrichment programs for young students, including summer, weekend, and online courses. Additionally, she leads parent education initiatives and is actively involved in professional learning and school outreach. Rosen has worked as a university professor and leader in the museum world. She received a BA and MA from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg and PhD from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
