Curriculum and Best Practices to Get You Started
Get access to curriculum units, webinars, and guidance from experts to enhance your instruction in service-learning, civics, and social justice education for students grades 3 through 12. Units are inquiry and standards-based, meeting Illinois’ civics mandates at the middle and high school levels.
The Social Justice Oriented Classroom series, developed by CTD's Civic Education Project team, provides several on-demand webinars coupled with live virtual applied practice sessions and grade-appropriate instructional materials (activities, resources, etc.) to provide you with easy-to-use content you can implement immediately.
Content Includes
- Curriculum mini-units on each of Learning for Justice's Social Justice Standards at the 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12 grade levels
- Resources for teachers and administrators for professional learning, reflection, and growth (Topics: Understanding Social Identities and Creating a Call-In Community)
- On-demand webinars (Topics: Social Justice Education 101 and The Reflective Classroom)
- Live, online applied practice session (Topic: Facilitating Difficult Conversations: An Anti-Racist Classroom) - Week of July 26, 2021 (Date and time TBD)

Fee: $100
$35 for the live, online applied practice session only
Things to Know
- The session opens on January 15 and is available for registration through August 31.
- Registrants have access to materials for 6 months.
- Materials are provided via Schoology, CTD's Learning Management System, and discussion boards provide for Q & A and extension conversations among participants and facilitators
